There are images of Provence that belong to no other region in the world. The Valensole plateau in July is one of them: thousands of hectares of lavender in full bloom, a purple sea stretching to the horizon under a cobalt blue sky. And in the village, one Sunday in July, the Lavender Festival brings together producers, craftspeople and residents in a celebration of what has defined the soul of Haute-Provence for centuries.
A day of celebration in the world's largest lavender plateau
In 2026, the Valensole Lavender Festival will take place on the third Sunday of July, 19 July. Programme: Provençal market with local producers (honey, soap, essential oil, lavender bunches), traditional costume parade, live distillation demonstration, music and children's workshops. This is also the ideal time to see lavandin fields at peak bloom before harvesting begins in late July.
