More than two hundred and fifty photos taken by Paul McCartney between 1963 and 1964, shown for the first time in France. The Musée Granet in Aix-en-Provence hosts "Eyes of the Storm" until 3 January 2027, over about seven hundred square metres.
What the exhibition shows
The shots, taken on 35 mm film and rediscovered in McCartney's archives in 2020, cover the period when the Beatles went from a promising Liverpool band to a global phenomenon, from Liverpool to London, Paris and the United States. The eye is not that of a professional photographer but that of a musician documenting his own life as it tips over.
The route is chronological, in eight sections.
Practical information
The exhibition is open Tuesday to Sunday, closed on Mondays. Until 1 November, the hours are 10am to 6pm. From 3 November, they are 12pm to 6pm. The ticket office closes at 5:30pm. The Musée Granet is on Place Saint-Jean-de-Malte in Aix-en-Provence.
The exhibition was organised by Paul McCartney with Sarah Brown for MPL Communications and Rosie Broadley of the National Portrait Gallery in London.
