Martigues is France's Italy, or rather Provence's Italy. The city of three islands, the canals flowing toward the Étang de Berre, the ochre facades reflected in the water of the Miroir aux Oiseaux. And every summer since 2018, the Halle de Martigues hosts its Summer Festiv'Halle: three nights of open-air concerts on the esplanade overlooking the harbour, with a line-up mixing mainstream headliners with sharper discoveries. A real alternative to the Marseille festivals, more intimate, warmer, and always by the sea.
2026 line-up
The Martigues Summer Festiv'Halle 2026 runs from Friday 24 to Sunday 26 July 2026, on the esplanade of the Halle de Martigues. This edition offers a wider bill than previous ones:
- Friday 24 July: Styleto, Helena, pop and electro-oriented evening
- Saturday 25 July: Georgio, Rilès, French rap, two of the finest pens of the new generation
- Sunday 26 July: Jean-Louis Aubert, Julien Lieb, French song night, iconic headliner for the close
The festival spirit
Three things make the Festiv'Halle:
The setting. La Halle is a large modern venue with a vast outdoor esplanade open onto the harbour. Concerts are held open-air, capacity around 4,500 spectators per night, human scale, close to the audience. When a light mistral blows in July, you hear the music mingle with the lapping of boats 200 metres away.
The line-up. The organisation seeks a balance between "headliner" artists (Aubert, Georgio) and rising names (Helena, Rilès). That's what sets Martigues apart from the big catalogue festivals: here, you discover artists you'll be listening to for the next two years.
The price. 3-night pass around €90, single night between €35 and €45. One of the most affordable festivals on the Provençal coast.
Enjoying the festival and Martigues
If you're coming from Marseille for the festival, plan to arrive early and discover the city before the concerts. A few must-sees 10 minutes' walk from La Halle:
- The Miroir aux Oiseaux : small canal at the heart of the island, historic haunt of Provençal painters (Ziem lived there)
- The Sainte-Madeleine church : 17th-century baroque, with a striking baroque interior
- The lifting bridge : between the island and the Jonquières district, free spectacle every hour
- A fish soup in one of the restaurants on quai Brescon before the concert (Le Pichet, Le Garage)
