It takes a certain spirit of adventure to climb up to Lacoste, clinging to its limestone cliffs at 300 metres in the Luberon. But since Pierre Cardin bought the ruins of the Marquis de Sade's château and installed his festival there, the village has become one of the most unexpected cultural venues in Provence.
Opera and music in a Provençal château
In 2026, the festival will present its performances from mid-July to early August. Opera productions, often revisited classics or contemporary works, are performed outdoors facing the ramparts and the Luberon panorama. The small capacity gives each evening an almost private dimension.
