MEDICAL TRANSPORT

VSL & reimbursement

Any insured person (or beneficiary) who must travel to receive care or undergo medical exams, and whose condition justifies seated transport under the 23 December 2006 reference framework. Coverage is governed by articles L. 160-8 and R. 322-10 of the French Social Security Code. In practice: if your doctor deems your condition warrants transport, they issue a medical prescription that opens the right to reimbursement.

Main covered reasons: long-term illness (ALD — cancer, diabetes, kidney failure, heart disease…), hospitalisation (admission, discharge or transfer, including day and outpatient care), recurring treatments (dialysis, chemotherapy, radiotherapy, rehabilitation — from 4 trips over 2 months for the same treatment), workplace accidents and occupational diseases, maternity (pregnancy, mandatory exams, delivery), conditions requiring stretcher or supervised transport, summons by a medical service (medical review, expert doctor, approved doctor or equipment supplier), persons with reduced mobility or incapacity unable to travel on their own or by public transport, and medically justified transport of a child or infant, accompanied by a parent where needed. The general rule: your condition must justify supervised travel, and the transport must be prescribed by your doctor.

Yes, the medical prescription remains essential for reimbursement: in principle it must be issued before the transport takes place (or be covered by a pre-authorisation request where required). In practice, things are often more flexible: many doctors prefer to issue the transport form on the day of the appointment, directly at the practice or hospital. If you don't have the form in hand yet, don't give up on your transport: as long as your situation qualifies for coverage (long-term illness, hospitalisation, recurring treatments, maternity…), call us — we'll take care of the journey and you collect the form during the consultation. The prescription must specify the transport mode suited to your condition and include the prescribing doctor's identification.

The pre-authorisation request is a procedure required in specific regulatory cases: long-distance transport (over 150 km one way), recurring transport (at least 4 trips over 50 km within 2 months for the same treatment), or shared transport incompatible with your condition. Your doctor issues it and sends it to your local health insurance fund. Key point: no answer from the fund within 15 days counts as approval — you can proceed. A pre-authorisation has the same value as a prescription for reimbursement purposes.

Because we are serious craftsmen — drivers since 2012: the same team, the same faces, a personal commitment on every ride. Our drivers are trained in first aid and strict hygiene rules. Our vehicles are recent, spotless, regularly disinfected, with a first-aid kit on board. We know the region's care facilities — access, drop-off points, departments — which spares you any stress on arrival. Punctuality, discretion, consistency: for recurring treatments, you get the same driver at the same time. Third-party payment, mutuelles accepted, no upfront costs. And thanks to our presence across the region, we answer 24/7, even at the last minute.

Within the respect of your physical integrity, dignity and comfort, the service includes: transport to the care location; assistance with your movement between the pickup point (home, hospital room…) and the vehicle; an escort to the care location. Where applicable: assistance entering and exiting the vehicle (without carrying), and strict adherence to hygiene and infection-prevention rules. A first-aid kit is kept on board at all times.

Yes for companions: a relative may travel with you — simply specify the total number of people when booking. Yes for folding wheelchairs: we load and transport them without difficulty. If you require heavier equipment (non-folding wheelchair, stretcher), we'll direct you to a suitable vehicle when we take your booking.

Health insurance reimburses between 55% and 100% of the agreed rate depending on your situation: 100% for long-term illness, workplace accident, occupational disease, maternity (from month 6); 55% in the general case. With the third-party payment we apply, you pay nothing upfront: MR Taxi bills your health insurance fund directly. If a flat-rate contribution or co-payment remains, it is covered by your complementary insurance — we accept mutuelles, so nothing comes out of your pocket. Just remember to bring your insurance card on the day of transport.

The fare is set by the national agreement between licensed taxis and health insurance. Reimbursement is based on the least expensive route consistent with service quality, accounting for route configuration, traffic conditions, number of patients transported and your health status. We may only invoice the fees defined by the agreement — no extra charge is added for a reimbursed trip.

To book a reimbursed transport, prepare: 1) your medical transport prescription (or pre-authorisation), with the prescriber's identification — if your doctor prefers to issue it on the day of the appointment, that's not a problem: call us anyway; 2) your up-to-date Carte Vitale; 3) your complementary insurance card — we accept mutuelles, which saves you any upfront payment; 4) in case of hospitalisation, the bulletin de situation (patient status slip) or attendance certificate issued by the care facility: this document proves your presence and supports the transport reimbursement — ask for it at reception or the secretary's office before leaving. For the booking itself, please give us: pickup address, appointment location and time, one-way or return, recurring trips if any, presence of a companion or wheelchair.

We recommend at least 24 hours in advance for scheduled transport (consultations, dialysis or chemotherapy sessions, exams). For emergencies or unexpected hospital discharges, we'll do our best to respond quickly. Call 06 98 46 63 34.

Yes, we cover both outbound and return journeys on the same transport voucher — the simplest option for short appointments. We can also wait on-site if your appointment duration is known (useful for imaging, lab tests, short consultations). For longer treatments (dialysis, chemotherapy), we return to pick you up at the agreed time.

Yes, you can arrange transport for a relative — an elderly parent, a child, a dependent person. You simply need their medical prescription, their Carte Vitale and their insurance card on the day of transport. When booking, let us know if a companion travels with the patient and whether specific assistance is needed (folding wheelchair, help moving around): we adapt the service accordingly.

Let us know as soon as possible: a simple phone call is enough — we reorganise the schedule and rebook your trip if needed. For recurring transports (dialysis, chemotherapy, rehabilitation), tell us about any change in protocol or timing as soon as you know, so you keep your usual slot.
