Toulon — Var Coast & Bandol: private taxi tour

Three small harbours in half a day, each with its own atmosphere. We leave Toulon to the west and arrive at Six-Fours-les-Plages. The chapel of Notre-Dame du Mai, perched 350 metres above the sea on Cap Sicié, offers one of the greatest panoramas of the Mediterranean: on one side the Toulon harbour with its warships, on the other the bay of Bandol and, on a clear day, as far as the Hyères islands. Total silence, fresh wind, cicadas. Then we go down to Bandol. The chic marina, the Belle Époque palaces, the seafront promenade lined with palm trees. I leave you time for lunch or a coffee. Finally Sanary-sur-Mer, one of the most beautiful flowered villages of France. The multicoloured pointus in the harbour, the market under the plane trees, the cafés where Thomas Mann and Aldous Huxley settled in the 1930s to escape Nazi Germany.
