Salon — Marseille & Calanques: private taxi tour

This is the grand route that crosses the whole of lower Provence in a day. We leave Salon and stop in Aix for a coffee on the Cours Mirabeau. The break does you good: the centuries-old plane trees, the fountains. We continue to Cassis in a little under an hour. The little harbour ringed by colourful houses, the red cliff of Cap Canaille overlooking everything, the fishing boats and the ice-cream shops. I leave you time for lunch facing the sea. In the afternoon, we head to Marseille via the Old Port. The lively cafés of the Quai des Belges, the rows of masts, the southern atmosphere. We go up to Notre-Dame de la Garde. The Bonne Mère has watched over the city since 1864 and from its terrace you take in the whole bay: the harbour, the Frioul islands, Cap Canaille in the background.
