Saint-Maximin — Sainte-Baume Massif: private taxi tour

A morning in the villages of the inland Var, the ones tourists do not always know. We leave Saint-Maximin and in half an hour we reach Brignoles, the historic capital of green Provence. Place aux Aires, shaded by age-old plane trees, is the meeting point for cafés, the market and pétanque players. The Pays brignolais museum, housed in the former palace of the Counts of Provence, tells the history of the region since Antiquity. I let you wander the old town and enter the Saint-Sauveur collegiate church. Then Cotignac, one of the most beautiful villages of the Var. The tuff cliff overlooking the village is pierced by troglodyte caves inhabited until the 17th century, and you can climb up on foot by a small path. On the village squares, fountains flow constantly and the cafés seem not to have changed in a century. I leave you time for a lunch in the shade. Back to Saint-Maximin through the Caramy valley.
