Martigues — Luberon & Gordes: private taxi tour

A long day in the Luberon, to be done at a relaxed pace. We leave Martigues and take a coffee break in Aix-en-Provence, on the Cours Mirabeau. The centuries-old plane trees, the fountains. We set off again for Lourmarin, listed among the most beautiful villages of France. Camus spent his last summers in a house you can still glimpse, and he is buried in the little cemetery. Renaissance château, cobbled lanes, terrace cafés. After a quiet lunch, we climb to Gordes. The village clings to its cliff like an eagle's nest, and from the viewpoint on the departmental road the view is the one photographed a thousand times: dry-stone houses piled up, pink tile roofs, cypress sentinels. I leave you time to wander the steep lanes. Finally the Sénanque Abbey, alone at the bottom of its valley, surrounded by lavender fields that perfume the air from June to mid-July.
