La Ciotat — Var Coast & Bandol: private taxi tour

A half day crossing three harbours of the coastal Var, each with its own identity. We leave La Ciotat to the east and in half an hour we reach Bandol. A chic marina, Belle Époque palaces, a seafront promenade lined with palm trees. I leave you time for a coffee. Then Sanary-sur-Mer, one of the most beautiful flowered villages of France. The multicoloured pointus rocking in the harbour, the market under the plane trees on Wednesday and Saturday mornings, the cafés where Thomas Mann and Aldous Huxley took refuge in the 1930s. The atmosphere is gentle, almost timeless. Finally Six-Fours-les-Plages. The chapel of Notre-Dame du Mai, perched 350 metres above the sea on Cap Sicié, offers one of the widest panoramas of the Mediterranean: the Toulon harbour on one side, the bay of Bandol on the other and, on a clear day, as far as the Hyères islands.
