Aix — Verdon & Lavender: private taxi tour

For me this is the furthest and most beautiful tour. We leave Aix early and head up to Manosque, Giono's town, where you can have a coffee facing his house. Then on to the Valensole plateau. From June, it is an ocean of lavender as far as the eye can see, purple fields rippling in the wind, the scent rising as soon as you open the window. I let you walk between the rows, take photos and breathe. Then we climb to Moustiers-Sainte-Marie, one of the most beautiful villages of France, set between two limestone cliffs linked by a wrought-iron star hung there since the Crusades. Its blue enamelled faience has been famous since the 17th century, and the workshops are still active. We finish at Lake Sainte-Croix, the huge turquoise expanse formed by the dam of the Verdon gorges. Swimming, pedal boats and kayaks are possible. Back to Aix by the Gréoux road, long but peaceful.
