Aix — Sainte-Victoire & Cézanne Landscapes: private taxi tour

This tour is shorter but intense, perfect for a half day. We leave Aix by the Vauvenargues road and in ten minutes we reach Le Tholonet. It is the village Cézanne crossed every day on foot or on horseback to go and paint. The little road lined with centuries-old plane trees, the Florentine-style château, the olive groves: everything has remained as in his paintings. I like to stop at the first viewpoint: Mont Sainte-Victoire stands in the background, white and sharp, with that light he tried to capture without ever quite succeeding. Then we climb the departmental road towards the Col des Portes. The landscape becomes wilder: garrigue, thyme, rosemary, kermes oaks, total silence. At the top, you overlook the whole Aix countryside, with the massive Sainte-Victoire in front, and on a clear day you can see as far as Marseille.
