On 25 October 2026, the Marseille-Cassis 20 km race celebrates its 47th edition. Around 20,000 runners will set off at 9am from Boulevard Michelet, near the Stade Vélodrome, to reach Cassis via the Gineste pass and the descent through the vineyards. For runners, it's one of the most beautiful races in France. For everyone else, it's a morning of heavily disrupted traffic around Cassis, which has to be anticipated.

What to know about traffic

The route is fully closed to traffic (cars, bikes, motorbikes, scooters). Main restrictions around Cassis on Sunday 25 October, according to the organisers' official plan:

  • A50, exit 6 (Carnoux), Marseille to Toulon direction: closed from 5:30am to 1pm. Access to Cassis is closed and traffic is difficult in Carnoux.
  • A50, exit 7 (Carnoux, Roquefort-la-Bédoule): the road between the Cassis station roundabout and Roquefort is closed from 5:30am to 6pm (emergency services route). Access to Carnoux and La Ciotat remains possible via the D559A.
  • A50, exit 8 (Bellefille), Toulon to Marseille direction: closed from 5:30am to 3pm.
  • Entering Cassis: roadblocks from 5:30am, only residents, employees and people with a booking are allowed through.
  • In Cassis: roads closed or filtered from 6am or 7:30am depending on the area, reopening between 3pm and 6pm at the discretion of the police.

Routes recommended by the organisers: heading from Toulon to Marseille, take A50 exit 7 (Carnoux, Roquefort-la-Bédoule), then follow the La Ciotat direction (the Cassis direction is closed) and at the Bellefille roundabout take the Cassis direction. Heading from Marseille to Toulon, take exit 8 (Cassis), then at the Bellefille roundabout the Cassis direction, and head for a town-centre car park.

Shuttles and parking

Shuttles: for the start of the race, they leave from Avenue Foch and the Gorguettes between 6am and 8am. For the return to Marseille and Aubagne, they run from 11:30am to 3pm from Avenue Foch, then from 3pm to 6pm from Avenue de Provence. The organisers recommend that runners use the large Auchan car park in Aubagne and the shuttles.

In Marseille, near the start: the Parc Chanot car park is accessible to vehicles only via the Rond-Point du Prado. Pedestrians exit through gate C, boulevard Raymond Teisseire. Price: €7, card payment only, parking possible all day.

In Cassis:

  • Gorguettes car park: reserved for runners from Saturday 24 October at 10pm. It is closed on Sunday 25 October from 7:45am to 3pm, and no vehicle can leave during that time.
  • Route de Carnoux: spectators can park above the Mussuguet, on both sides of the road and in the direction of traffic. No parking in the middle of the road.
  • Roquefort and Bellefille roads: no parking, they are closed to traffic from 5:30am.
  • Race route: no parking on the route and nearby, from the evening before until the afternoon of 25 October depending on the area (see the plan).

For those taking a flight or train that day

If you are leaving from Cassis or nearby for the airport or Saint-Charles station, some access roads will be closed and another route will be needed. I adapt to the day's closures to get you there on time.

  • Allow extra margin on your departure time
  • It is advisable to book at least 24 hours ahead, but even at the last minute I adapt and find a solution
  • If your address is hard to reach because of the closures, I will give you an easily accessible meeting point for the pick-up

For supporters wanting to watch the finish in Cassis

The atmosphere in Cassis is exceptional. But access is closed or filtered from 5:30am: to be there, you need to arrive early in the morning. Tell me where you want to go, I adapt and tell you the best possible drop-off point.

For runners wanting to return after the effort

Once over the finish line, getting back from Cassis to Marseille or your accommodation needs planning. Booking a pick-up in advance, with an easily accessible meeting point, is the most relaxed solution.

How I organise myself that day

I adapt to the closures and traffic conditions of the day. If where you are is hard to reach, I will propose an easily accessible meeting point for the pick-up.

Date: Sunday 25 October 2026
