From 13 June to 8 July 2026, Marseille becomes an international stage for twenty-six days. The Festival de Marseille returns with around thirty events, contemporary dance, documentary film, DJ sets, workshops, talks, spread across fifteen venues between the Vieux-Port, Belle de Mai, the Mucem and the Cité Radieuse. At the heart of the 2026 edition: a mahraganat spotlight devoted to Cairo's popular electronic music scene, and a series dedicated to Moroccan choreographer Radouan Mriziga. Here are the highlights you won't want to miss.
The mahraganat spotlight: Cairo's sonic revolt comes to Marseille
This is the most singular thread running through this edition. Mahraganat, the electronic music born in Cairo's working-class neighbourhoods in the 2000s, takes over Marseille through films, performances, talks and DJ sets.
- Saturday 13 June, 9:45 pm, Cité Radieuse Le Corbusier: screening of Rester Vivants by Pauline Beugnies, opening the spotlight. The documentary that brought the mahraganat scene to audiences outside Egypt.
- Tuesday 30 June, 2 pm, Alcazar, BMVR: Électro Chaâbi by Hind Meddeb, the defining film on the birth of the genre.
- Wednesday 1 July, 9:45 pm, Mucem Place d'Armes du Fort Saint-Jean: El Sett by Marwan Hamed, outdoors facing the sea.
- Thursday 2 July, 8 pm, Mucem Auditorium: Pleine Lune by Toto, in a public rehearsal.
- Friday 3 July, 8 pm, Mucem Auditorium: Just one Tile by Islam Elarabi.
- Friday 3 July, 9 pm, Mucem Auditorium: talk Révolte mahraganat, le son qui secoue l'Égypte with journalist Yasmine El Rashidi.
- Friday 3 July, 10 pm, Mucem Terrasse: DJ set by Chabana, closing the spotlight.
Three consecutive evenings at the Mucem, the perfect opportunity to move from film to concert to talk to DJ set without changing venue. A rare treat at any festival.
The Radouan Mriziga series: three movements for the Mediterranean
Moroccan choreographer Radouan Mriziga, with his company A7LA5, delivers one of the standout moments of the 2026 contemporary dance programme. Three pieces performed back to back across a weekend at La Criée.

- Saturday 20 June, 7 pm, Sunday 21 June, 3 pm, La Criée: Atlas / the Mountain, the second panel.
- Sunday 21 June, 4:30 pm, La Criée: public talk Atlantis / the Sea with the choreographer, presenting the third and final panel.
